I don't think that's a bad idea. My current theory is that all of this does have a basis in technology, even if the technology is far beyond our current understanding to the point that it would seem like magic. But if they supposedly have an engineering department and programmers working on the changes, it makes sense, doesn't it?
Although it's understandable that some of the changes that people have been experiencing on an individual level seem more magical than practical.
